With Zaha Hadid’s Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan as a formal precedent, this joinery is designed by mimicking its exaggerated undulating curves and milled with a CNC machine. Through a rigorous series of design iterations using network surfaces, lofting curves, and filleting we achieved a similar conversation of undulating curves that are located not only in the aesthetic geometry of the joint, but also within the joint’s actual mechanism of operation.
